It's becoming increasingly evident that maybe we want seller verification to be mandatory for anyone looking to sell.

You are absolutely correct, sending $250.00 to an unverified individual is quite risky. Without verification, if they choose to disappear, we have no means of identifying them. They may not even have intended on bilking anyone in the first place, but once money hit their account, they might have asked themselves, "Well, I am unverified, nobody knows who I am, what's to stop me from just walking away" sad really, but unfortunately some people do think in this way.

At first when I read this post, I was thinking: "Perhaps we should change 'Caveat Emptor, UNVERIFIED' to something more self-evident. Something like:
'WARNING: TRADER IS UNVERIFIED!" But then I remembered, EC Tunnel neither guarantees nor endorses Verified member's services or identity. They urge traders to use caution with everyone. This is of course because even verified members can scam traders.

This is why I always say: feedback is king A trader's history is the most reliable, and imo only reasonable metric for trust. I realize you are experienced with this site KickRox, I mostly mention this for those traders who might otherwise make a mistake, and will be viewing this thread. Perhaps they can avoid a similar situation with a little precaution - Good on you for posting this

It's a serious problem! We should consider a top banner warning that sending >$200 to somebody might cause them to have a stroke.
We no longer accept it as an excuse unless we see discharge papers.

That is a reasonable question.

When someone steals from another, they’re taking food out of a child’s mouth, they’re forcing someone to sell their car, they’re evicting someone from their home.
This 'trader' bears the mark of a true psychopath - burning bridges, relocating, and making new friends in a repeating cycle.. But there’s a catch.

With every act of deception comes a roll of the dice, and eventually, they will run into someone with the capacity for extreme violence.
Sure, there may be short-term gains to this kind of behavior, but they are fleeting, and in many cases, quite literally, short-lived.

I've seen a lot where I grew up, I know this to be the reason why I practice kindness and respect, I try my best to never take a single day for granted.

I’d rather be scammed than be a scammer. In the end, money means nothing, he can only take some inked-up paper.
