Apparently he cannot give any kind of estimate unless you pay RedGuides $10. That said, I'm not sure what harm could come to anyone on this site by just giving an estimate. It appears to be some kind of racket. Proceed with caution.

Edit: I asked for an estimate, and he said if he were to give one without me being verified, that it would be considered "heresay"[sic] and that it would be bad. I don't have a problem with him as a person, but his prices must be a little out of whack if he's afraid to give any kind of estimate without requiring $10 up front. And no, I'm not a "drug addict" nor a scammer. I've been here a long time and my job pays fairly well. I just think it's ridiculous that someone force another person to pay $10 for nothing more than an estimate without any kind of guarantee.

I'm assuming he's asking you to pay the $10 here to get RedVerified for his protection of the payment for his services, should you use them. If he opts not to give quotes without it, that's really his choice. Being verified is pretty much a standard request from buyers/sellers these days.

I understand, and if I agreed to his price and decided to enter into a contract with him, I would get verified. However, I do not know what his price is, which is why I'm asking for an estimate before I throw down $10 for a service I may not use. I don't think I'm being unreasonable. Anyway, no hard feelings. I've since found several PLers with published prices lists that work for me.

Nobody gets a commission or kickback for asking people to get "red verified".

If a seller wants to do that job on their own, they're more than welcome. Apparently this seller and a few others like when I do it, so there you go. This forum is open to the public and we could take or leave the $10 to be honest. Nobody's going to make a living selling bazaar verifications. The price is mainly to discourage scammers, and so far it's working pretty well.
